Is there an advantage to shaving with a straight edge razor?

I'm thinking about switching to just a straight edge razor.. ye know.. one that flips out.. does anyone have any experience with them? And if so, what sort of advice do you have?

My barber uses one and is pretty proficient with it. If you choose to go with don't expect to do an excellent job with it. Expect a few cuts until you get the hang of it. You may even want to see if your barber may share some tips with you.
