Can I trade in a broken DSi to Gamestop?

I was taking apart my DSi to clean the screens, and I accidentally damaged the power cables that connected the battery to the mother board. I took the entire d-pad where the battery is located out and put my sisters DSi d-pad in and it worked fine so I know it's just the little cable. Can I still trade it in? Will gamestop like take it in and refurbish it?

Don't expect to get any money for it, they don't buy broken equipment. Try selling on e-bay, there are lots of people that buy stuff like that for parts or know ways to repair something like that for their own use. Though you should disclose the details of what you did. Also ask Nintendo if they have a program for recycled game consoles so they can either refurbish them or repair them. They can repair it for you but it will cost you a repair fee since you voided the warranty by opening up the device. If the damage is easy to fix then they can repair it and send back the same one you had, otherwise they send a refurbished one if it's beyond economical repair.
